About

1. Technical Talks

India’s Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) & Open Standards :– Understanding how open standards power large-scale national digital initiatives and ensure interoperability, security, and scalability.

Enterprise FOSS and National Standards :– Exploring the relationship between Free and Open-Source Software (FOSS) and formal standardization, and how enterprises can align open technologies with national standards frameworks.

2. Standard-a-thon (Hackathon)

A major attraction of the event will be the Standard-a-thon, a problem-solving hackathon where students will design and develop applications centered around Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). Participants will work in teams to create practical solutions that demonstrate how technology can enhance consumer awareness, authenticity verification, and compliance monitoring.

Participants can build open-source solutions that align with the objectives of BIS.

3. Draft Standards Preparation Activity

Participants will engage in a Draft Standards Preparation Activity where teams will be provided with specific products or problem statements and tasked with drafting a proposed BIS standard. This exercise will simulate the formal standardization process and provide hands-on exposure to how quality benchmarks are defined and implemented at the national level.

Overall Objectives
- Promote awareness and understanding of open standards among students.
- Encourage innovation through open technologies and standards-based solutions.
- Bridge the gap between academia and national standardization bodies.
- Provide hands-on exposure to the standards development process.
- Inspire students to actively contribute to India’s evolving standards ecosystem.
