Funding and grants

Funding and grants for developers and organizations looking for funding and grants to build high quality FOSS projects in India.

How it works

We offer financial grants to people and organizations building and using Free and Open Source Software in India. The grants are available in the following categories.

FOSS technology: Development of Free & Open Source Software projects.

FOSS education: Running workshops, designing curriculum, building FOSS tools and systems to further FOSS in education.

FOSS community: Using FOSS for social good, defending digital rights and privacy.

FOSS events and hackathons: See the event and hackathon grant program.

Eligibility

Any person or organization building FOSS technologies in India or using FOSS for social good can apply. The applicant must have an Indian Bank account to receive the grant. Grant applications are reviewed by the FOSS United team

Co-sponsored grants

FOSS United allows organisations to co-sponsor specific FOSS projects and grants by providing a framework for fund disbursal and project management. Co-sponsored grants are executed with the combined approval of FOSS United and the grantee. If you are interested in co-sponsoring grants via FOSS United, please write to us.
