The FOSS Code of Conduct

Code of Conduct Violations

FOSS United is dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion (or lack thereof), or technology choices.

Harassment includes but is not limited to offensive verbal or non-verbal comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, caste, religion, technology choices, sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of the event, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention. Sexual language and imagery is not appropriate for any of our events, including talks, webinars, and other online media.

The code of conduct and anti-harassment policies apply to everyone participating in the event including contractors and service providers, sponsors, judges, mentors, volunteers, organisers and the FOSS United staff.

If an individual engages in harassing behaviour, the FOSS United team may take any action they deem appropriate, including a formal warning or expulsion from the event.

Regardless of the event being a virtual or online-only event, we expect participants to adhere to these rules at all avenues, online and offline alike.

Reporting Code of Conduct Violations

If you feel uncomfortable or notice someone else being harassed, please report it to the foundation using the procedures mentioned below. All reports will be kept confidential. During investigation, the Incidents team will anonymise the reporter's details, as much as possible, to protect their privacy.

Please note that for incidents occurring in one-on-one settings, anonymising the details may not prevent the reported individual from deducing the reporter's identity, but our team will do its best to ensure the reporter's safety.

  • Please reach out to a volunteer near you or call 9900982939 to speak with a FOSS United Foundation's full time staff.

  • If you are uncomfortable reporting your situation to the volunteers and are unable to reach out on the phone number mentioned above, please reach out to any of the following people:

  • You may also email us at coc@fossunited.org for any reports or queries.
