Docker: Build, Ship, and Run Applications Anywhere

Rejected

This session would be for students where I will introduce them to Docker and Containerization. How it revolutionized development and deployment of application. I would be talking about what is Docker, how people use it and how I use it and more importantly, how you can leverage it while coding, creating applications and running software without installing it on your system. There will also be a demo if anybody wants to follow along where we would take a random application from github, containerize it and run it without installing anything on our laptop

Updates (review comments)

1. Docker is FOSS, Docker Desktop isn't. This will be focused on Docker and Containerization which is open source

2. As mentioned, I already have a demo planned, don't have it recorded and I plan to do everything on the spot. It'll be a random GitHub project which will be "containerized" using docker and we will explore multiple ways to use docker/containers. If things go wrong (like bad internet for example) then I also have a "backup demo" so we are safe in that sense

Given the number of students, I think this will be a good way to introduce containers and the different ways to use them, get started with docker and related technologies. Thanks.

Docker isn't FOSS. I would have liked if this was actually covering the internal workings of containers like the use of runc or something. Could also explore podman as an alternative.

This would be a great introductory talk, especially at a meetup. Students learning how to use and leverage Docker would be very helpful. Please make a Docker demo and link to it, showing of Docker is the kind of thing that is very demo-able and should be shown off.

Not really relevant for a conference, maybe consider applying for a meetup.

Quite basic but maybe worthwhile if the students don't know about docker
