Realizing Open Application Management on Kubernetes with KubeVela

Rejected

Session Description

Kubernetes is powerful—but managing applications on it is still complex for most developers. Enter KubeVela, a modern application platform that abstracts this complexity through a programmable, model-driven, and GitOps-friendly approach.

In this session, we'll explore how KubeVela empowers developers and platform engineers alike to define, deploy, and operate cloud-native applications effortlessly. From real-world implementation in enterprise environments to aligning with the Open Application Model (OAM), this talk will showcase how KubeVela integrates with tools like Helm, Terraform, and GitOps pipelines while staying truly cloud-agnostic.

We'll also walk through how Guidewire uses KubeVela to manage multi-tenant environments on Kubernetes, improve developer experience, and adopt OSS practices at scale.

Key Takeaways

  • Why application management is still hard on Kubernetes

  • What KubeVela brings to the table

  • The basics of Open Application Model (OAM)

  • How to extend and customize KubeVela

  • A real-world case study: using KubeVela at scale in production

  • How to get involved in the KubeVela community

Not Sure

While this look to a be a polished talk, it seems the speakers are implementers of Kubevela and not maintainers or major contributors. As this is a FOSS conference we really want to highlight people's projects that they have created and not just merely implementing existing projects. This doesn't seem to be strong enough of a proposal for the main track at IndiaFOSS

While the reviewers found the topic and presentation to be polished, the primary concern was that the speakers were implementers of KubeVela rather than core maintainers or major contributors. For a FOSS conference like IndiaFOSS, the program committee prioritizes talks that highlight projects created or significantly contributed to by the speakers.
