Highlights from FOSS United:
Wondering what's happening in FOSS United? Here are a few updates from our side:
What’s up with IndiaFOSS 2025?
- What’s up is you need to grab your tickets, like right now. It helps us not panic about headcounts, and you won’t be that person hunting for a pass the night before. No, really, go book your tickets while we wait here.
Book Your Ticket - What else is up is that the CFPs for talks have closed. Thank you to all the cuties who sent one in time. Speaker hours begin this month. If your talk made it through, we’ll be talking soon (look out for the emails).
- If you are one of those who missed the deadline and still wish to send something in, consider proposing a birds-of-a-feather(BoF) session, a good old panel, or showcase your project at a booth.
Submit here - Thanks to generous contributions from community members and organisations, we’ve raised a meaningful amount towards this year’s Diversity Scholarship. With a target of 8Lakh, there’s still a long way to go. If you’re someone who cares about bringing new voices into the FOSS space, we need your help. We’d love it if you could also pass this along to someone who might want to contribute.

A maintainers' monsoon at FOSS United
Last month, we brought you forklore.in, a WIP archive of the coolest maintainers and their lives behind the forks. Check it out. Now we present to you the Maintainers Summit @IndiaFOSS 2025 :), a space for open source and open commons maintainers to gather, reflect, and exchange ideas before the main conference. Are you a maintainer? Are you cool? Do you have stories to tell and questions to ask fellow cool maintainers? If your answer is yes, we’d like to see you at the summit. The rise of FOSS 🏎️
While we wait for Apple TV to confirm Brad Pitt’s availability for Rise of FOSS: The Motion Picture (with Hans Zimmer attached also), we thought we’d drop a little something in the meantime, just a full-scale, evidence-backed report on how FOSS is quietly transforming sectors across India. NLS Bengaluru presents “ The Rise of FOSS in India: Empirical Evidence and Insights from Cross-Sectoral Case Studies”. Join us @IIIT Delhi on July 11 for the launch. We might not have the car chases, but we’ve got them case studies, alright.FOSS Club Applications Are Open!
