About

Capital Gain Scheme Bonds are financial instruments that allow taxpayers in India to save on capital gains tax arising from the sale of certain assets, particularly real estate. Under Section 54EC of the Income Tax Act, individuals can invest the capital gains in these bonds, which are issued by entities like the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and the Rural Electrification Corporation (REC). These bonds have a lock-in period of five years and provide a fixed interest rate, offering a way to reinvest gains while deferring tax liabilities. The maximum investment limit is ₹50 lakhs per financial year.
