The ignite project is an innovative highway safety solution designed to reduce animal-vehicle collisions, particularly in forest and rural highway regions. Every year, thousands of animals lose their lives due to road accidents, and many drivers are also injured because of sudden animal crossings. This issue is common on highways passing through forest zones and wildlife corridors. Our proposed system focuses on real-time detection and early warning to prevent such accidents.
๐ฟ IGNITE PROJECTS ๐ฃ๏ธ
Many highways pass through forest and rural areas ๐ณ where animals frequently cross the road ๐ฆ. Drivers traveling at high speed ๐๐จ often do not get enough time to react, especially at night ๐ or during poor visibility ๐ซ๏ธ.
.
This leads to sudden braking, serious accidents โ ๏ธ, vehicle damage, injuries, and sometimes loss of both human and animal lives.
To solve this issue, we propose installing motion and pressure sensors ๐ก at identified animal crossing points. When an animal enters the detection zone, the sensors immediately send a signal to a microcontroller โ๏ธ.
.
.
The system then activates an LED warning board ๐ก placed at a safe distance before the crossing area. The display will show a clear message like โAnimal Crossing Ahead โ Slow Downโ ๐ฆ, along with flashing lights or a buzzer ๐ to quickly grab the driverโs attention.
.
.
.
This real-time alert โณ gives drivers enough time to reduce speed smoothly instead of reacting at the last moment, helping to prevent sudden collisions ๐.

.
The system is designed to be low-cost ๐ฐ, easy to install ๐ ๏ธ, and solar-powered โ๏ธ, making it suitable even for remote highway locations. In the future, it can be upgraded with AI-based detection ๐ค and connected to highway monitoring systems for better accuracy and data collection ๐.

Our aim is simple โ to create safer highways for both people and wildlife ๐ฃ๏ธ๐ฟ while promoting responsible and smart use of technology.
