Zephyr

Zephyr is a social media aggregator and platform . By aggregating content from popular platforms, offers users a centralized hub to explore, discuss, and connect.

Description

Zephyr is an open-source social aggregator and discussion platform that seamlessly merges social media and news aggregation into a single, unified experience. Built by the community, for the community, Zephyr empowers users to explore, share, and discuss content from various platforms without the limitations of walled gardens or algorithmic manipulation. By aggregating content from Twitter (X), Reddit, 4chan, Hacker News, and Tumblr, Zephyr provides a centralized hub where users can stay informed, engage in meaningful conversations, and build communities around shared interests.

Unlike traditional platforms, Zephyr is fully decentralized and open-source, allowing users to contribute, self-host, and customize their experience. It supports real-time discussions, lets users create communities akin to subreddits, and ensures full control over content curation. With no forced tracking, no invasive ads, and strong privacy-focused principles, Zephyr puts users first, providing an alternative to mainstream social networks that often prioritize profit over genuine interaction.

Technically, Zephyr is built on a modern, scalable stack using Turborepo (Next.js) for the frontend and backend, Prisma ORM with PostgreSQL for data management, MinIO for self-hosted storage, and Redis for caching performance. Authentication is secured using Lucia Auth, while real-time chat is powered by Stream Chat. The platform is designed for easy deployment and self-hosting, leveraging Docker Compose and Coolify for streamlined management.

At its core, Zephyr is more than just an aggregator—it’s a movement towards a more open, community-driven, and user-first internet. Whether you’re looking for trending discussions, niche communities, or a privacy-respecting alternative to mainstream platforms, Zephyr is the place to connect, engage, and build a social space that truly belongs to the people.
