Report

Yashraj Pardeshi is the Indian maintainer and original author of Krate, currently based in Singapore. He has built the runtime, file format, permission enforcement, AI authoring path, cross-platform host support, tests, documentation, and public examples. Krate is his primary project, and grant support would let him work on its public open-source components full-time.

Projects

Krate

spdx:MIT, spdx:Apache-2.0

Krate is an open-source runtime and file format for software created by AI. Claude or another authoring tool can turn a request into one .krate file. The same file opens locally on macOS, Windows, and Linux. Before any app code runs, Krate shows the files, network access, and other capabilities the app requests. The runtime grants only what the user approves and refuses to start an app when a required capability is denied. The runtime, AI authoring flow, double-click opening, local persistence, and sample apps work today. External adoption has just begun, so the first grant milestone measures real outside use rather than assuming it. This grant supports only the public runtime, SDK, authoring tools, documentation, security testing, accessibility work, and community participation. It does not fund the planned commercial Krate Cloud.
