ReportI build explainable, source-grounded clinical decision-support software. My focus is rare-disease reasoning: a disease-blind engine that reasons over compiled medical knowledge, so the medicine lives in reviewable data rather than in code. I care about tools that are transparent, traceable to their sources, and safe to inspect.
ORPHARA engine
A disease-blind reasoning engine for rare-disease decision support, written in Rust. It reads a patient's extracted facts and a compiled knowledge model and returns an explainable, ranked shortlist of candidate disorders, with the evidence and provenance attached. The engine is open; the disease knowledge it reads is compiled data. It does not guess: every concept, threshold and code traces to a source, or to what a report itself prints. It ships with a synthetic example model and is not a medical device.
Milestone 1 (kickoff) — Hematology family map and engine readiness (month 1)
A small kickoff tranche, released on an early and concrete deliverable so work can begin. Resolve the ~230 Hematology clinical entities in the Orphanet inventory into families and sub-families (a published classification map), and get the open engine and its public build/CI ready for the family (group and subtype handling). Deliverable: the family/sub-family map and engine-readiness updates on the public repository with passing tests.
Milestone 2 — First sub-families modelled end to end (months 2-4)
Author sourced dossiers and compiled models for the first Hematology sub-families (for example red-cell membrane and haemoglobin disorders), each passing the engine's confirmatory-gating and provenance checks. Deliverable: a defined batch of disorders modelled end to end, with a progress report listing counts and sources.
Milestone 3 — Coverage expansion and differentials (months 5-7)
Extend to further sub-families (coagulation, bone-marrow failure and related) and add cross-disorder differential reasoning. Deliverable: cumulative disorder coverage reported, with engine improvements released publicly.
Milestone 4 — Further sub-family coverage (months 8-10)
Continue modelling the remaining Hematology sub-families toward full-family coverage, each disorder passing the engine's confirmatory-gating and provenance checks. Deliverable: cumulative disorder coverage reported, with sources.
Milestone 5 — Full-family coverage and validation package (months 11-12)
Complete the Hematology family as far as the year allows toward full coverage, and assemble a clinician-review package (a synthetic case suite and per-disorder review packets), a public engine release, and a written clinical-validation plan. Deliverable: cumulative coverage, the review package, and the validation plan. After clinical validation the knowledge base opens as well.

Any amount, one-time, to support the project outside the milestone plan.
