Overview
FOSS United is dedicated to promoting the use and development of FOSS. Our community-driven events, hosted across 12-15 city communities throughout India, provide a platform for learning, collaboration, and advancement in the field of FOSS technology. Each month, our community members organize 8-10 events ranging from monthly FOSS meetups to larger cityFOSS conferences.
Role and Responsibilities
As a member of the CFP Review Workgroup, you will be instrumental in shaping the content and quality of these events by reviewing the session proposals submitted by FOSS developers and enthusiasts. Here’s what you would contribute to:
- Proposal Review: Evaluate and review proposals per event for at least 4-5 events each month. This will involve assessing the relevance, depth, clarity, and overall quality of the proposals to ensure that they meet the high standards expected at FOSS United events.
- Provide Constructive Feedback: Offer valuable, constructive feedback to all proposers, regardless of whether their submissions are accepted or rejected. Your comments will help them refine their proposals and enhance their future presentations.
- Collaboration and Discussion: Engage in online discussions with fellow reviewers to exchange insights. These interactions will help maintain consistency across different events and cities.
- Commitment: You are expected to dedicate a minimum of 5-6 hours per month to your duties as a reviewer. This time will be spent on reviewing proposals, providing feedback, and discussing evaluations with your peers.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- You have substantial experience and understanding of free and open-source software, and are deeply familiar with the community dynamics.
- You possess strong analytical skills and the ability to critically evaluate the content of diverse proposals, considering various dimensions such as technical depth, audience engagement, originality, and practical application.
- You can provide clear, encouraging, and productive feedback that aids proposers in improving their work.
