Driving XMPP Adoption via Shiny Clients

Approved
Session Description

We all have a vested interest in proliferation of jabber across our social networks. This frees us from the clutches of BigTech(tm), the compromises in values they bring with them, and the dark patterns they use to coerce users into certain choices. The current state of XMPP and its clients offers users freedom from BigTech(tm), but at a steep cost of user friendliness. This doesn't have to be the case. In this paper, I propose taking cues from the adversarial BigTech(tm) to make Jabber clients Shiny(tm), while preserving the no-compromises moral code that is central to openness.
