Talk Intermediate First Talk

Websockets and Kafka - best friends

Approved
Session Description

I would be talking about an old project that I had worked on. It would be focused on the architecture aspects of the project and how Web Sockets and Kafka were helpful in making the architecture feasible.

The talk will start with first showcasing the existing app architecture. Then I will talk about the scaling needs and how they were achieved. Next I will showcase the problems scaling the architecture created - specifically the application level issues related to websocket connectivity. Next I will explain how I introduced Kafka as a service layer across Kubernetes clusters to fix the issues. Later on I will explain how introducing Kafka helped us scale even further, towards multi Cloud. Basically, it will show the attendees how the architecture scaled from a single cluster to multi-cloud multi-cluster and the role of Kafka in it, specifically to solve App issues related to websocket connectivity.
