At FOSS United, our goal is to build quality free and open-source projects that help a wider community of software users in India and elsewhere. But that only makes sense if the events hosted by FOSS United aren't creating lots of trash at the end and making it difficult for our planet to sustain life in the long run.
In this talk, I will discuss how we organize FOSS events so that they serve the purpose of the community today and in the future, while trying to live without leaving any traces behind. This talk aims to serves as a template for organizing any meetup, not just FOSS meetups. I will introduce the greenconf project, whose purpose is to create a directory of green vendors to reach out to in your region in case you need any services or products to host your event.
