I will introduce an open spec aimed at improving discoverability of funding needs of FOSS projects.
funding.json is a manifest that enables FOSS projects to declare their financial needs in a machine-readable format. The self-contained JSON file can be easily published in repositories or websites, functioning similarly to robots.txt or Progressive Web App manifests.
By making funding requirements publicly crawlable and indexable, funding.json aims to bring discoverability to FOSS projects, helping connect those seeking financial support with potential backers.
I will also introduce FLOSS fund, which is an initiative from Zerodha to support Free/Libre Open Source projects. The aim of FLOSS fund is to donate up to $1 million annually to support FOSS projects.
I will also briefly showcase the FLOSS fund portal where open source projects can apply for funding.
