Building Buzz: Open source alternate to Luma

Proposal status is Rejected
Session Description

In this talk, I will be introducing people to Buzz (buzz.events)

Buzz is a 100% open source event management platform. Made with the sole idea to be the best event management platform in the world and dethrone Luma as much as possible. Too many open source communities end up using proprietary platforms to host their events, but that doesn’t need to be the case anymore.

I will be talking about the journey of Buzz. It’s been in the works for a year, with multiple orgs using it. With the aim to make hosting events even easier, we recently released buzz.events during IndiaFOSS this year. Now you can just sign up and start hosting your own events.

I will also be showcasing a little demo of features that Buzz ships with, such as community pages, fast check-ins, custom forms, schedule builder. And at the end I will talk about self-hosting Buzz.

Key Takeaways

People will be learning about:

  • Buzz’s story

  • How to get started on buzz.events

  • Features of Buzz

  • Why Buzz matters
