This demo walks through a real world self-hosted Gitea instance set up for our college community running on our VPS using Docker. I will be covering how the Gitea was setup and how you can set one up for your personal use, college clubs and communities etc. I will also show how to customize it, and the benefits of owning your own Git infrastructure, and advantages of Gitea over Github and Gitlab. This demo also demonstrates mirroring repositories from different Git hosts, showing how to maintain independent backups.
