How open source communities are bringing a population scale social impact? Insights from My Journey

Enter the world of Digital Public Goods (DPGs) and Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), the building blocks of today’s interconnected society. Open source communities play a pivotal role in the development of DPGs and DPI.

This talk will delve into how open source principles of openness, collaboration, and inclusivity are transforming societies worldwide by creating scalable and impactful digital solutions. In this talk, we will deep dive into:

Open Source as the Foundation of DPG and DPI development, guided by principles of openness, collaboration, and inclusivity.

Innovative Contributions and their Transformative Impact by open source communities leading to innovations including identity verification systems, payment solutions, mobility platforms, with examples like MOSIP for AADHAR, DIGIT, DIVOC for CoWin, ABDM stack and a lot more and how they are transforming lives by providing critical citizen centric services like welfare delivery, access to healthcare, verifiable credentialing, etc.

Global Collaboration bringing together the builders, adopters and the contributors to develop and implement DPGs and DPI, sharing success stories from various regions across the globe.

Community Driven Development ensures the scalability, adaptability, and sustainability of DPGs and DPI, with continuous improvements by contributors and advocates.

My personal journey and experiences in the open source community and my role in mentoring a project for the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) through DMP under Code for GovTech (C4GT).
