Making the Web Accessible with FOSS: A Guide to Web Accessibility using Lighthouse

FOSS is about making software accessible to everyone. At the first meeting of the FOSS United Kolkata Chapter, I would like to discuss web accessibility to make the web accessible to all using Lighthouse, a FOSS Tool.


In this talk I would like to cover:


1. Introduction to Web Accessibility 

2. Four principle of WCAG and WCAG2.2(current)

3. Type of Accessibility barriers: Visual, Auditory, motor and cognitive impairments

4. Type Assistive Technologies: Screen Readers, Speech Recognition Software Screen Magnifiers, Alternative Input Device.

5. Accessibility Measures using Lighthouse: A quick guide of how to use Lighthouse for accessibility audits, how it helps to identify and fix accessibility issues.

6. Explain best practices for accessibility: Text and Color Contrast, Alternative Text for Images, Radio Buttons, Labels, Link, Semantic HTML, ARIA.

Good CFP, but don't see how its related to FOSS. IMO its better to reach out to the speaker and clarify this. Also, accessibility is a side in the field which needs some more exposure.
