In recent years, the Open Source Program Office (OSPO) has become integral part of organisations, maximising the benefits of open source while minimising associated risks, ultimately easing the lives of developers. This session will begin by exploring the challenges organisations face without an OSPO and will then examine the strategic considerations for establishing OSPO with specific needs of an organisation. The session will also identify which organisations can benefit the most from establishing an OSPO and demonstrate how doing so can streamline open source-related tasks within the existing organisational framework. Additionally, the session will outline the various responsibilities of an OSPO based on the TODO Group mind map and provide guidelines and best practices for managing and automating OSPO across domains such as the software industry and education.
