Rejected

Session Description

Entri, a leading educational platform in India, has successfully built and deployed an advanced, in-house Video-on-Demand (VOD) solution to stream over 2 lakh plus videos to its rapidly growing user base. In this session, we will share our journey, the unique challenges we faced, and the innovative solutions we developed to create a highly scalable, cost-effective, and secure VOD platform.

We will begin by discussing the key drivers behind our decision to build an in-house VOD platform, highlighting the benefits of cost control, flexibility, customization, and data ownership. We will then dive into the technical architecture, showcasing how we leveraged free and open-source tools and cloud infrastructure to create a highly efficient and scalable system.

A significant focus of our presentation will be on the smart transcoding techniques we employed to optimize video delivery and user experience. We will share insights into how we went beyond paid third-party platforms to build something of our own.

Another key aspect of our solution is the automated transcription pipeline, which we built using a combination of open-source and proprietary technologies. We will demonstrate how this pipeline enables features like video co-piloting, where students can collaborate on educational content in real-time, and how it contributes to the overall accessibility and engagement of our platform.

Throughout the session, we will share practical lessons learned, best practices, and the challenges we overcame in building and maintaining our in-house VOD platform. We believe that our experience can serve as a valuable roadmap for other educational platforms looking to build similar solutions and overcome the unique challenges of scaling video content delivery.

Not Sure
Not sure if we should promote a tool that partially relies on proprietary technology. Also, this platform doesn't seem FOSS in the first place.
