Approved

In this session, we will delve into the journey of creating Namma Yatri, a groundbreaking platform transforming India's mobility landscape. Conceived by a team of tech enthusiasts driven by first principles, Namma Yatri has redefined urban transportation with its zero-commission model and driver-first approach. Our vision is to replicate the impact of UPI in payments within India and Linux worldwide, aiming to become the leading open-source mobility platform both locally and globally.

We will explore the technical and community-driven aspects that have propelled Namma Yatri to the forefront of sustainable mobility solutions. Key highlights include:

  • Driver-First Approach: Prioritizing drivers’ needs and earnings, creating a positive flywheel effect that enhances both driver satisfaction and customer experiences.

  • Zero Commission Model: Transitioning from a middleman-heavy system to a subscription-based model where technology acts as an enabler, not an intermediary, ensuring fair pricing and transparency.

  • Open Source, Open Data, and Open Protocols: Leveraging open-source principles, open data, and protocols like Beckn and ONDC to create an open, scalable, and interoperable mobility network.
  •
  • Multimodal Transport Integration: Our next big bet—integrating public transportation with Namma Yatri to enable seamless multimodal trips. This initiative aims to solve the first and last-mile connectivity challenge, providing users with a comprehensive and efficient travel experience.

We invite the open-source community to join us in this exciting journey. By contributing to our open-source codebase, you can help shape the future of mobility in India and globally. Together, we can build a more inclusive, transparent, and efficient transport system that benefits everyone.

Not Sure
I think we need this talk on how Open Source can enable drivers and riders and about building a mobility platform on open-source tools. Also the last part where they are inviting many others to join in this OS mission to make it a better and transparent place. I think it would encourage many listeners to join hands in contributing to their FOSS project.
