Asian participation in the global ecosystem is limited due to the inherent differences in culture, time zones, language, and levels of awareness. Not only does this lead to the formation of fragmented local ecosystems that are disconnected from the wider global ecosystem, but also they are fewer in number and are challenging to sustain, grow, and justify. With the rebooting of the Asian chapter within the CHAOSS Project, under the Linux Foundation, the aim is to unify all these local efforts and nurture Asian participation in the ecosystem. In this workshop, Leon Nunes will cover the following topics related to these challenges, focusing on the FOSS tooling that is being/has already been created for their effective measurement.
- Measuring Community Health: This topic will cover the metric and metric models developed by our community to measure community health. It will also give a brief overview of the ISO standardisation we've undertaken with these metrics & metric models.
- Visualising Community Health: How do we visualise these metrics and metric models locally and tailor them to our communities?
- Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: This topic will cover the badging initiative formed by one of our other regional chapters, CHAOSS Africa.
- Amplify cross-collaboration across Asian communities: How are we building a publicly available database of open-source Asian communities, and how can the audience contribute?
