Session Description

Have you ever looked at your gadgets and thought, "I could totally build that!"? Well, guess what? You absolutely can, and we NEED you to join the hardware revolution!

Why do we need YOU in hardware?

  • Innovation: Learn how hardware is the backbone of innovation, enabling everything from autonomous drones to lightsabers (yes, you heard that right!).
  • Hardware Renaissance: Discover how advancements in technology and manufacturing processes have lowered the barriers to entry for hardware development.
  • Impact: Learn why hardware is essential for tackling issues like climate change, energy production, and transportation.
  • Opportunities: See the unique opportunities hardware offers for creating tangible, lasting impacts that software alone cannot achieve.
  • Community & Collaboration: Discover how joining the hardware community opens doors to endless collaboration, creativity, and, let's face it, some pretty epic playtime.
  • DIY and Beyond: Whether you're a seasoned engineer or a curious newbie, there's a place for you in the world of hardware. We'll show you how to get started, what tools you'll need, and where to find your tribe of fellow makers and breakers.

In this electrifying 20-minute session, we'll dive into the nitty-gritty of why hardware isn't just for the technical elite - it's for everyone with a spark of curiosity and a dash of creativity. From the tiniest microcontrollers to the grandest drone flights, hardware is the playground where your ideas come to life in the most tangible ways possible.

This seems exciting! Hardware is often perceived to be hard to break into and this talk can help break that stereotype.

i like the intent of this talk. but i don't agree that a generic "you can do it" will help too much. i'd love a more tangible walkthrough instead... "look at this. you can build it in 3 easy steps"

I'd like the talk to be a bit more in-depth, looks fine otherwise.
