There's an obscene amount of noise around AI changing everything related to software development. To cut through this noise it may be helpful to look at product design from first principles.
We'll take a look it in 4 parts.
Part 1 - The design workflow today from an org level
Part 2 - Go deeper into what makes really a day to day in a product designer
Part 3 - Pick apart 2/3 of a designer's toolkit compare with "AI tools" to get an idea of current state of these tool
Part 4 - Tie it back to the timeless bits that have stuck around for 100s of years and unlikely to get disrupted w/ AI
This is a FOSS -adjacent talk.
Tools used in the talk are proprietary ( Gemini, t3chat ,figma ... )
The knowledge is shared freely, and I hope that makes it worthy enough to be discussed in a design forum with the FOSS crowd :)
Less anxiety for all mid-level tech professionals around AI, and hope for the newer ones joining our industry :)
- Designers can get an idea of what's likely to change in their workflow
- Engineers can get an additional perspective on how to facilitate designers better
- PM/ Managers/ might be able to empathize more with how to give better feedback to a designer in their team.
