Say no to JS React garbage

Proposal status is Approved
Session Description

I showcase Oat (www.oat.ink), a 10KB zero-dependency pure CSS and JS UI component library. It uses standard CSS and Webcomponent features and doesn't rely on any other packages or the NodeJS ecosystem.

I created it out of pure rage after being rug-pulled on by bloated Javascript ecosystem frameworks and libraries like React, Vue and evrything else that dependa on them.

Switching away from JS frameworks to Oat, my projects have gone down to having close to zero transitive dependencies (when in general a reasonably sized project can rack up thousands of them), no frontend bloat, and no Javascript transpile/compilation nonsense.

I show that in 2026, it is easily possible to build sophisticated, maintainable web frontends without Javascript dependency hell, bloat, and complexity.
