Session Description

FlySky i6s is a commercially available drone controller, but I wanted to run my own code on it so that I can send custom commands through a wireless transceiver instead of using PWM capture on my robot.

This talk dives into reverse engineering the PCB and getting zephyr running on the hardware from the initial Hello World to a near perfect device enablement. And finally getting everything upstream ready and merged into Zephyr mainline.

Key Takeaways

1) PCB Reverse engineering techniques.

2) Unlocking the MCU with STM32Cube Programmer

3) Enabling Devices and DMAs in Zephyr RTOS and properly writing the Devictree

4) Uning Zephyr’s inbuilt input drivers to translate raw ADC values into usable input interrupts and events.

4) Upstreaming to Zephyr mainline.
