A simple HI turns an AI blackbox to a partner you can trust

Proposal status is Rejected
Session Description

We treat AI agents like blackboxes, hoping for the best but fearing the worst. When they inevitably make mistakes, the search for accountability begins. The truth is, the "human-in-the-loop" is not a solution. It's a bottleneck that ignores human factors like decision fatigue.

It's time to stop overseeing AI and start teaming up with it. Instead of asking who to blame, we should ask how we build a trustworthy team with AI. And it starts with the tiny act of standardizing how agents express what they expect from humans.

We present the open Human Interaction (HI) standard for agents to design seamless, transparent collaboration between people and AI. By standardizing communication and decision handoffs, the Hi protocol makes every action traceable to a responsible stakeholder. This standard is architecting the next generation of AI systems built on a foundation of mutual clarity, accountability, and trust.

More than just a technical talk, this is an invitation to comment and contribute to this open standard - https://humaninteractionprotocol.org

Key Takeaways

1. Why the "human-in-the-loop" model is a broken accountability trap

2. How the Human Interaction (HI) standard creates a clear, auditable trail of responsibility

3. How to contribute to the open standard for building trustworthy AI teammates.
