Proposal status is Rejected
Session Description

The talk focuses on

  1. Overview of the current state of .NET support on IBM Z.

  2. Recent performance improvements that significantly enhance the efficiency of .NET workloads on IBM Z.

  3. NetCoredbg .NET Debugger support on IBM Z architecture.

Benefits to the Ecosystem

  1. Stronger open-source ecosystem – Contributions for s390x improve the portability, robustness, and architectural flexibility of the .NET runtime for all platforms.

  2. Broader platform reach – Developers can run modern .NET workloads on enterprise mainframes without rewriting applications for another stack.

  3. Enterprise modernization – Organizations running critical workloads on IBM Z can integrate modern .NET services directly with their existing infrastructure.

  4. These advancements bring important benefits to the broader .NET ecosystem

  5. Unified development model – Teams can use the same languages, libraries, and tooling across cloud, distributed systems, and mainframe environments.

  6. Improved performance for data-intensive workloads – SIMD support allows efficient parallel processing, improving throughput for analytics, cryptography, and data transformation workloads.
