Physics at 60fps

Proposal status is Approved
Session Description

Rapier is the Rust ecosystem’s flagship physics engine: one codebase that ships 2D and 3D, f32 and f64, native and WebAssembly, with optional cross-platform determinism and full state snapshots. This talk uses a live, walkable browser world (built with Runek, a procedural 3D component registry) as the demo, then digs into what Rapier does right as a Rust project: arena-and-handle API design, structure-of-arrays data layout, a clean WASM boundary, and feature-flagged determinism. We’ll compare it honestly against Avian, Jolt, PhysX, and the JS incumbents, and pull out lessons for any Rust crate that targets WASM.

Key Takeaways

An introduction to 3D world building on the web using ready to move components and rust.

I’m building RL environments with Vibrant Labs, maintaining open source AI evals library Ragas, building some cool devtooling products like Runek, AgentHub under NullOrder open community and doing independent R&D on Web Assembly (WASM).

Also, building an open source license dependency scanning tool called Feluda.
