Session Description

Every open-source conference, meetup, or community event eventually faces the same challenges: registrations, ticketing, CFPs, sponsorships, payments, check-ins, landing pages, and more. Most organisations either stitch together multiple tools or build custom solutions from scratch.

In this talk, I will demonstrate how we are trying to build the best 100% Open Source Event Management Platform.

It's built on top of Frappe Framework. Frappe Framework is extremely versatile for developing products, and I will demonstrate how we leveraged the framework & Frappe UI to build Buzz

This is not a POC but a production app used by organisations like Frappe, AevyTV and more for running their events.

Some of the capabilities include:

  1. Event Management
  2. Ticket Add-ons (Shirts, Meals)
  3. Multiple Ticket Type (Early bird, Sponsor)
  4. Coupons (Free tickets for Sponsors)
  5. QR-based attendee check-in
  6. Guest booking
  7. Custom Forms per event (CFP, Feedback etc.)
  8. Sponsorship Proposal per event
  9. Global Forms (Propose Event)
  10. Zoom Integration
  11. Automatic registration closing
  12. and lot more..

Heck it also contains multiple themes for the landing page you can choose from or if you want you can create your own customized landing pages.

It's integrated with Frappe Payments which allows you receive payments via Gateways like, Stripe, Razorpay, MPesa or if you wish to keep it cash only you can do that as well.

Join me on the day to see what other cool features are waiting to be explored 😁

Key Takeaways
  1. The story behind Buzz.
  2. Building beyond simple event registrations.
  3. Product thinking over feature thinking.
  4. Designing reusable modules that work independently and together.
