Deploying Full-Stack Applications on a Student Budget: Lessons from Building Real-World Projects

Proposal status is Rejected
Session Description

Many developers learn how to build applications locally but struggle when it comes to deploying, maintaining, and operating them in production. Through building and deploying real-world projects such as a Rental Management System and an e-commerce platform, I encountered challenges involving hosting, databases, authentication, environment management, monitoring, and deployment workflows.

This talk shares practical lessons learned while deploying full-stack applications using modern cloud platforms and open-source technologies on a limited student budget. Rather than focusing on a specific framework, the session will cover common architectural decisions, deployment patterns, debugging strategies, cost optimization techniques, and mistakes that are often overlooked in tutorials.

Attendees will learn how to move from a development environment to a production-ready application while avoiding common pitfalls. The talk will also discuss how to think about scalability, security, and maintainability from the beginning, even when working on small projects.

The session is aimed at students, early-career developers, and anyone looking to gain practical insights into deploying and operating modern web applications.

Key Takeaways

• Common challenges when deploying full-stack applications
