Libredesk is an open source customer support desk built with Go, PostgreSQL and Vue 3. This talk is a hands-on introduction and walk-through of the project, what it is, why it was built, and the problems it aims to solve as a truly open-source alternative.
I’ll showcase core features, the product experience and technical decisions.
I’ll also share how the project has evolved from a solo build to a small growing contributor base. This session is ideal for developers and OSS enthusiasts looking to explore a new open source tool and understand the process of taking it from ideation to release.
What libredesk is and how it compares to existing tools.
Core features and product flow of ANY modern support platform.
Architectural decisions using Go, PostgreSQL and Vue 3
Lessons from launching and growing a new open source project
This is a huge integration problem that you solve. You'll be curious to hear more about what libraries you chose and how generic integrations are possible and things like web hooks and all of that. There are many design decisions so understanding how FOSS project should decide on these things would be insightful
This is a good submission and we should encourage more introduction talks but we have to ensure that this talk covers 'development' details and what were the challenges, architecture and more deeper insights. The talk mentions showcasing 'features', 'looking to explore open source tool' parts may not be very relevant for the audience.
Truly open source alternative to ?
From the project proposal, I do not see this talk offering much depth in terms of architecture. As a solo developer project that has grown bigger it potentially has merit. Again from the session description it's not clear if this has a strong enough story to be picked purely based on that.
