Using and improving OpenStreetMap (Mobile/Outdoor)

Participants will learn in brief about -

  1. What OpenStreetMap is, and why it is important; (10 minutes)

  2. Organic Maps, OsmAnd, and OsmAPP.org - freedom-respecting apps which use OpenStreetMap data and provide replacements for apps like Google Maps; (10 minutes)

  3. MapComplete.org, a freedom-respecting web app to view and edit OpenStreetMap data from your mobile or desktop. It also allows you to contribute photos to Panoramax, and ratings and reviews to Mangrove Reviews. (10 minutes)

Next, participants will learn to edit with a mobile OSM editor - Vespucci for Android, and Go Map!! for iOS. (10 minutes)

We will then split up into teams (5 minutes) and map the nearby areas (30-60 minutes), then regroup and conclude the workshop. (5-10 minutes)
