Building Production-Ready AI Agents with Google ADK

Proposal status is Rejected
Session Description

In this talk, we will go beyond introductory concepts and demonstrate how to build a production-ready AI agent using Google Cloud’s Agent Development Kit (ADK).

Instead of focusing only on theory, this session walks through a practical, end-to-end implementation of an intelligent agent—from defining workflows and integrating tools to managing memory and handling real-world edge cases. We will also explore how ADK simplifies agent orchestration while highlighting important design trade-offs and limitations that are not obvious from the documentation.

The session includes a live demo where we incrementally build and improve an agent, showing how to move from a simple prototype to a more robust, scalable system.

By the end of the talk, attendees will have a clear understanding of how to design, debug, and deploy AI agents in production environments, along with practical insights they can immediately apply in their own projects.

Key Takeaways
  • How to design real-world AI agent architectures using ADK

  • Step-by-step walkthrough of building a functional agent (live demo)

  • Practical use of tools, memory, and workflow orchestration

  • How Model Context Protocol (MCP) enables modular agent design

  • Common pitfalls, debugging strategies, and performance issues

  • Best practices for scaling agents beyond prototypes
