Scrite is a open-source desktop screenwriting app, using which you can write screenplays in almost all LTR languages. Writers from India, especially love the fact that they can write in their own native language in Scrite. Infact, many of the films released in the recent past have been written using Scrite.
The project depends on many open-source components, some of which I discovered after my first city meetup in May last year. In this talk I want to showcase all the opportunities and projects I discovered at FOSSUnited events that eventually made their way into Scrite.
The talk will include a mix of slides and live demos.
How Kailash's Alar and Olam help with Kannada and Malayalam transliteration
How we use Mkdocs, not just for user guides but also for lookup from within the app
How an announcement on the Forum about SDOS program led us to having two teams of interns from IIIT-D in building certain AI enabled features in Scrite
How a chance encounter with Biju got us registered with OIN and the LOT network
How FOSS people at these events unabashedly support and dream big possibilities for Scrite
